DIGITAL ASSET RESEARCH · GLOBAL PERSPECTIVEEVIDENCE BEFORE CONVICTION

The Lab / Research topic

Operating costs

Operating costs include the recurring effort required to keep an asset useful. Website maintenance, account subscriptions, content work, AI inference, retries, and human review can all belong in the assessment, depending on the asset. A purchase price or headline usage charge leaves that work unexamined.

Count the work around the asset.

List the activities required in an ordinary period and assign a realistic owner to each. Distinguish costs evidenced by historical records from assumptions about future use. Then check whether the apparent benefit survives a slower, more labor-intensive case. The articles below help structure that review without treating an estimate as a promise.
